Here we ask whether the book's vocabulary teaching methods are sufficient to teach vocabulary to young learners so that they will not forget what they learn. I will show through a study that the vocabulary teaching methods of Project 1 are not satisfactory from this viewpoint. My hypothesis is that Project 1 is a good coursebook, but it has weak points such as vocabulary and grammar. Here, I will just focus on the vocabulary aspect. I will also offer some reasons why students forget almost 40% of the words they learn. Afterwards I will make some recommendations about how students can retain more of their learned vocabulary, and how a book like the one examined here can be used more effectively in teaching vocabulary to young learners.
