Tartalmi kivonat:A number of experts both in Hungary and abroad accept György Györffy's hypothesis according to which the Türks had a müitary escort belonging closely to the ruler's environment. Györffy claims to have found a link between this escort and the Türk title „buyruq". In this paper the author expresses his doubts about this identification. Analysing the etimology of the word and the textual evidences of Türk inscriptions it can be stated that the title „buyruq" featuring in the Türk inscriptions cannot be identified with either the military escort as an institution or a member of it. The functions of the person bearing this tide were supposedly of administrative rather than military nature. At the same time, the Türks may have had the institution of military escort, to the traces of which P. Golden alludes in connection with the title „böri". The parallels from the Mongol era (Quman, Mongol nöker, nökör) makes it probable that such an institution existed in the Türk era too.
