Tartalmi kivonat:The aim of this study is to demonstrate the significance of audiovisual historical sources using the film-sociographies made by the duo of Gyula Gulyás and János Gulyás, including the antecedents of filmmaking and its influencing factors. The six-part “Domaházi hegyek között...” (Among The Hills of Domaháza) and 1983’s “Ne sápadj!” (Don’t Pale!) depict different stages of the life, as well as the show trial of Alfonz Medve, a “peasant-bourgeois” from Domaháza, who can be seen as a symbolic figure of the post-peasantry. The films depict the reckoning following the failure of the New Economic Mechanism, the attempts to conceal the underdeveloped economy, the functioning of the agricultural cooperatives, as well as the local unraveling of the traditional peasant society in the 70s and 80s through the circumstances of the “new”, rural working class that also began participating in industrial production.
