Tartalmi kivonat: | Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778) was a philosopher, writer, composer and one of the most important fgures of the Enlightenment. He was a major infuence on the French Revolution and the post-Revolutionary period. Who exactly was Jean-Jacques Rousseau? What were his most important works? What was his individual vision of the world around him? What educational methods did he develop? What did the ideal world Rousseau imagined look like? Rousseau’s ideas were interesting, since they did not always coincide with those of other prominent fgures of the time. He was one of the elemental personalities of his time, born of a rebellion against the ideas of the Enlightenment. Voltaire was one of the antipodes of the age, Rousseau the other. Voltaire was a representative of reason and unassailable rationality, while Rousseau was a prominent representative of natural inclinations and emotion. With this in mind, he imagined what the ideal society, politics, law, education or pedagogical views would be. Jean-Jacques Rousseau was fundamental to the Enlightenment. Sometimes (most of the time) he disagreed with the ideas of the time. His genius can be traced through his actions and his work. In fact, it was in this way that he was able to have a great infuence on his own and later eras. How was he able to create something so revolutionary? His individual refections were understood by few. Te world he imagined was almost fairytale-like. Rousseau lived only 66 years. In that time, he lived through a lot (an adventurous life with many twists and turns). In retrospect, it is perhaps not too much to use the analogy of his life as a lost man searching for the answer to the question: What is his purpose here on this earth? Reading his work, I have also had this thought. I think it was through his application to the Dijon Academy that he understood exactly what his purpose in this world was, what he was meant to do. Tere is a close link between realising his purpose and becoming famous. Trough his adventurous life, he has been able to create a legacy that can serve as a lesson for posterity. |
