| Tartalmi kivonat: | Resumen. After September 2001, but particularly after the events of 2015 and 2016, the geopolitical situation of the world was radically changed. New hot spots were created, including the European migrant crisis and its local manifestations. In this paper, we focus on the Serbian-Hungarian border where the fence building has turned this research relevant. Through a survey including mapping the mental cognition of borders, we monitor the hypothesis that the closedness of the border has appeared in the minds of the local population, but their security perception has not increased significantly. Persisting asymmetries and polarized revelations are the landmarks of the changing border zone. |
